June 27, 2010---first day at Carbondale: let's looking around our campus!

SIU--Southern Illinois University has many facilities.

There are Student Recreation Center, Student Center, baseball field, lake, campus buses, parks, comfoftable library, and many more.

SIU also has icon, he is the Saluki. Along the way we passed, i found many Saluki's footprints.

Our long journey to America!

We are six students from Indonesia. Yeah, we are the lucky one, because we can join the SUSI program for five weeks in Carbondale, Illinois, USA.

This is my first time, that's why i was so exciting!

Let's follow our two-day trip on a plane!

Hi! I am Achie Martasasmita. Just call me Achie. I am from Indonesia.

Recently I registered as 6^th semester’s student in Journalism Major Study, The Faculty of Communication of Padjadjaran University.

Three months ago I had a call from one of my lecturer, he said, “Achie! Do you want to go to America?”

I didn’t think twice and I said, “Yes, I would!” After I read the form which is explain condition and program, I was excited, imagine one month in US. I can find great experience and adventure. More than that the thema about New Media its very interesting and important caused its material what I’ve been studying for. This is really a great opportunity what I dream since long long time. Its time for me to expand the network, to improve knowledge, and experience and off course to know more about America.

For me, the opportunity can be everywhere, everyday, and every second. I have a lot of dream and I believe the strength of my dreams. I spread out all my dreams to every corners all over the world. Since I was in junior high school, I had have list about goal in live. And one of my goal is to get scholarship to study abroad. I hope, this is the right time to start.

When I go back home after this program, I directly set programs in order to transfer knowledge and experience to media through essay or article, and publish on newspaper and magazine—local or national. In oral system, I will set a discussion and sharing program with Journalism Student Community and “Klab Aleut” community. Special program, I will set for Thirteen Junior High School—where I work as trainer for Journalism extracurricular class—in seminar and workshop with “New Media” as the thema.

On this blog I will share our experiences and what I found in America, especially in Carbondale-- Illinois.
I hope this blog can help me in sharing information with other friends, in SUSI and friends in Indonesia.
